I can't contain my excitement!!!

yeah, if you want i can try to hook you up with a profesional betta breeder that i met from another forum (he is a crazy betta breeder, 55 and 120 gallon grow out tank, 5 gallon tanks per male betta when they start to get agressive, on room dedicated to betta, this guy i think can teach you a lot).

I've done breeding before, but I'd love to hear some advice from a professional and fellow enthusiast. ^__^

Darn it... now you're giving me bad ideas for MY spare room.... my fiance will KILL me... heh heh. :D

But that can wait until I actually have my boy home and have the materials and time to invest in getting him a girl and such. If I'm going to try it again, I want to do it properly, afterall!!

Argh!! Minor setback. There was some issues with my bank account and paypal, so we're still working on payment. So he hasn't been shipped yet.

NICE!!!

I'm a huge Betta and Tetra fan myself. Gorgeous picture! Good luck and have a great journey with your fish!

That is the coolest looking betta I've ever seen, congratz!

*** UPDATE!! ***

Finally!! He will be shipped to the U.S. on the 22nd of this month. The transhipper contacted me about shipping him here. I asked for the full package protection, so it totals to $37.60 to ship him here. So...

$14.00 for the betta
$ 5.00 for shipping from Thailand to trans shipper
$37.60 for shipping to my location (double-bag, heat pad, fees etc)
~~~~~~~~
$56.60 TOTAL COST for one male crowntail betta. And I spent another $57 on preparing his aquarium for when he arrives and I've only started with the plants and other decor.
Yeah, for that price he should be trained to jump through flaming hoops, it's true... but I'm honestly not bothered by it. I'll just make sure and have more fish contained in my next purchase so the shipping fee will be lower.
So there you go. And from what I see, expect to pay anything from $50-$60 on any bettas shipped from other countries. ^__^;;
I bought a 5-gallon minibow for him. Unfortunately, they didn't have the red or black style I wanted for him, so I bought the teal color. I figure he can be housed in the 'heaven tank' until I have the money to 1) buy the red/black minibow and 2) buy the platinum white HM or SD betta.
But I'm thinking of toning down the theme a bit and just using the color scheme for the gravel and background, skip on the fake plants, and use live plants, driftwood, and a few tankmates to enhance each aquarium.
I was thinking the betta, 4 cardinals (to offset the red and blue in his tail), and two zebra otos for tank cleanup. I would go with a snail or some shrimp... but I've heard some iffy stories about using inverts with bettas. They tend to leave other fish alone more than they do the others. ^__^;;
Weeee!!!! He ships tomorrow!! I'm such a kid... :P
dont go with the otos, first since with all those fish in a 5 gallon it will be quite stocked even without the oto, and otos are fragile. Otos also like fast currents which bettas hate.
