Oscar are nice. i have 2 in an 80g. i also like eels, peacocks to be exact. they get like 16" but they can turn on a dime like a snake so if its too wide itll make due. convicts are cool too but if you have too many they may breed and kill each other due to their extremely territorial nature.
40g tank
4 black convicts
2 ice blue zebras
2 terquoise severiums
1 jack dempsey
1 oscar who just never grew... hes 2 years and 4" its strange...maybe ive discovered dwarf oscars?? i could make millions :P

80g
1 albino tiger oscar (Slovak)
1 tiger oscar (chi)
1 jack dempsey(danny boy)
2 terquiose severiums (Jat-Jay and Jon-Jon)
1 channel cat (secret squriell)
1 pleco (Goliathe)
PS i cant spell worth for my mothers life :/

You may need to reevaluate your tanks stockin :)

How often do you do water cahnges on your 40g? If your oscar hasnt grown then something is wrong.

Wow those dinosaur eels are cool.
Do they get along with other fish?
more common name is bichir, and 2 bucks is a great deal! they are at least $10 eachfor one inchers!!

Yes, they will. In fact, you could probably get several of each. Here is a setup Spartan reccomended to me:

2 Dinosaur Eels (polypterus senegalus)
1 african knife (Xenomistus nigri)
2 or 3 African butterfly fish
stick with one african butterfly with a 55gal they get quite territorial and will attack anyother suface dwellers, I think it might work in a 125gal

why?

Yeah, and it'd be a really cool african oddball kinda setup. :) African knife fish are great, really prehistoric looking.

If you don't go with the african oddball tank (but I don't see why you wouldn't, I'll be doing one when I move into a bigger house), I'd recommend a Jack Dempsey or a Texas Cichlid, or some other decent sized SA cichlid.

Ok So right now im really liking the

2 dino eels
1 african knife
1 african butterfly fish

So now I have never seen these any any petstore
I havent even seen them in any exotic fish shops.
So the problem now is purchasing them

Petsmart carries the bichirs and the knife fish. You may have to order the butterfly fish.
