without inverts, corals you can use hyposalinity, but that's going to kill off everything (good and bad) that can't live at the low levels of hyposalinity. I wouldn't use medication in my main tank under any circumstance.
Only way to eradicate it from your main system is to remove all fish and inverts and let the tank go empty for a month or so to break the life cycle. It's a huge pain in the butt and not an option, especially if you've got a reef tank. A fish only tank isnt' bad. This is the main reason for quarantine!
That being said, I have ich in my tank that is full of tangs because I am too impatient to quarantine Ich is like herpes. Once you've got it it's all about managing the outbreaks. I have a cleaner shrimp and a cleaner wrasse. With them in the tank and keeping the fish healthy by good feeding and husbandry, the ich never has a chance to overtake the fish.
My tank only has live rock and fish with 2 fire shrimp and a sandshifing sea star. I have a coral beauty that has some kind of white spot on it. I am not sure what it is. It is eating normal and all the other fish are fine at this time. I have never had ich and have not added anything new to the tank in 7 months. I hope it is not an outbreak of ich. Thanks for the input.
Seems like it would be easy for you to take your livestock out and treat the tank. Livestock can go into a rubbermaid container or small tank with a skimmer or HOB filter temporarily. Treat the inverts with hypo and the fish with copper.

Completely disagree. Hypo can and most likely will kill the inverts. I'd leave the inverts in the display and remove all fish to a QT to treat with hypo/refractometer to test or copper with proper copper tests. I'd leave the display fallow for 6-8 weeks.

Totally agree..Do not hypo the display, there is not need. The fish are main area of treatment with Ich in a quarantine area, the fallow period while your treating Ich will deal with any cysts which have fell off the fish and looking for new hosts...
I tried to search for an article on how to do hypo and couldnt find anything. Can someone post a link to info on how to do it?
Thanks,
Scott
Sorry to go off topic.
Basically you want to lower the SG to 1.009 to 1.0014 and verify it with a refractometer. You want to do this slowly, but it doesn't need to be as slow as is neccessary when raising SG.
