Thanks for your time. My first dealings with ich.

I am noticing tiny white spots on the tail of a pearlscale. If it is ich, the infection is nowhere near as drastic as some pics that i have seen on the internet. My pearlscale (Pandora) has 3 or 4 spots on her tail. the majority of her body is orange and on it I see none.

Without question, Pandora has spots so out of concern i look to my other fish to see if they have the same. I Cannot say for sure that they have the same problem but it looks they may. why can i not be certain? because if i imagine that something might be there i might actually think i see it.

I Have posted a few less than average pics of Pandora. Can anybody confirm or refute ich??

If it is confirmed, what is my next step?? i would like to stay away from commercial medications.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i removed the large pics for you as you reposted them.
thanks

nice looking fish.... how long has the tank been set up? How big is it? How long have you had the fish here? What are the params of the tank? What is your water maintenance schedule like, and finally, what are you filtering with?

Hi DD. You have helped me in the past.

Its a 20G. (will set up bigger tank in near future). it has one 3-4'' fish and three 2-3" fish. params are normal ph is consistantly 8.0, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites and nitrates get up to 20ppm right before a water change. changes are of 40% every 5 days.

what do you think?

helloo mush :) I'm glad I could help in the past ;)
sounds like a good go, but you have an awfully large stock for a 20 gallon though and the pH is a bit high. Is that due to the water out of your faucet? How long have you had these fish? How soon are you going to have a bigger tank... hopefully 55 gallon or bigger is what you have your eye on...?

I can't really see the pics well enough because they are so big, have you tried any meds yet?

dd,

I Am looking at a 100-125g tank to house them and maybe another 3 or 4. i wanna see them get big.

PH From the tap is 7.5. but it has always been 8 in the tank.(???) any tips for taking better pictures??? those were the best out of maybe 100. i would like it if you or someone else would diagnose it for me. If i need better pictures then i'll try again.

ph of 8 is fine as long as its stable. It does look like ich to me so the best you can do is slowly raise the temperature to 82f as the parasites will die in the warmer water. You will have to add an airstone to make sure they get lots of extra oxygen.

How long have you had the fish, whens the last time you added a new one?

Those spots do like like the begining of ick, however, it could be something else.
