Ich???

theres a few tiny spots on tail.

have added a fish recently. could not set up q tank.

a thought:

--the tank is well airated. could it be air bubbles??


--the spots seem to accumalate then drop off so the position of them has been changing throught the day. i fed orange slice this morning. could there be particles in the water that are sticking??

Nah..those are solid spots. I would assume it is ich. Given that the spots look like ich, and you have recently added a new fish without quarentining.

My course of action would be to use the salt method:

the link says that any salt will due even table salt but ive heard that putting in table salt can be harmful. what do you think?

id also like to hear what DangerDoll thinks before i act.

Table salt will work just fine. Ive used this method before. Its all just NACL. If you are concerned about the iodine in regualr table salt, you can purchase the iniodized form.

Hopefully DD will respond soon. Appears as if you have caught the ich at a very early stage. Starting treatment immediately is key to a speedy recovery..

Is sea salt ok??

is that considered table salt. i realy have no idea about this stuff.

Yes thats fine. Generally for treating parasites you add 1 level teaspoon per gallon, 3 times, 12 hours apart to get to a .3% solution.
