Ick Help.

ok, I think I'll do what most people are saying and let the tank sit fallow, for about a 6 weeks, during those weeks should I do any water changes? I'm thinking of doing a water change tonight to help rid of the Ick faster. And another question, will ick infect any corals, like xenia, mushrooms, Frogspawns?

I dunno, I don't want to sit and watch my tank do nothing for 6 weeks, I can always put some corals in and watch it move and stuff.

oh and I forgot to Thank everyone for there kindness and helpful suggestions. I can always count on people here on AC.

Water changes can theoretically make it go faster and make the process more thorough. I wouldn't chance it, though. But do feel free to do water changes. It only stands to help you out.

What would be a good percentage water change? 50%? and anyone on the corals? will I be able to keep any during the ick cycle?

The corals? Just leave them in the tank. They'll be fine, they may even eat some of the tomites as plankton :). You can do a 50%, but unless your tank is used to large scale changes like that, I would start off with something a bit less drastic. I can easily do a change of that scale on mine, but my tank is used to regular 30% or larger changes, too.

Thanks for the tip on the water change, as far as the corals go, I'm asking if I can add new ones, while the tank is on the ick cycle, will the ick do any harm to newly added corals? Like I said before, my tank is currently a FOWLER, but I do have the light for some xenias, and such.

It won't do any harm to the corals, but you may introduce more ich parasites if the corals come from systems containing fish.

No, you certainly don't have to do water changes and they aren't necessary for the process. But why not? It just gives the fish a nice, clean environment when they arrive back home.

ok, well I wont do the water change until a week before I add the fish back in. And I think I just might add a few new corals for the time being. I really don't want to watch en empty tank do nothing. lol thanks evryone
