I save water jugs, then fill them with tap water, dose them with conditioner and let them age for a week prior to adding them to the tank. I have also added the conditioner to the tank after adding the water ... not sure theres a right and a wrong way, but there might be a better way.

Will a simple carbon/charcoal filter on your tap get rid of the chlorines/chloramines? I have seen them for about $10
