Identify this fish?

lol 12 volt man. Fishing for gar is complicated you need to rig like a lasso with the bait in the middle that will close down around the nose. It is a weird looking rig but I hear it works good.

i go fishing for these all the time, they get big like 40 pounds big, and they smell and there slimmy, they are a gar pike

Folks here just use a length of frayed nylon rope; pull it by the fish, and he will bite at it (probably more in annoyance than as a feeding response). If he closes his jaws on the rope his teeth will become entangled in it. Bowfishing for gar is also popular.

They're supposed to be pretty good eating; I haven't tried one yet.

Ya Gar fishing with bow is supposed to be neat. They can get up over 100lbs which is pretty exciting when you are fishing. lol I get a 5-15lb muskie and I get excited.

maybe alligator gar. those get HUGE. like big enough to eat alligators (i.e name)

jm, the name gator gar comes from the flat, gator-like snout.
gators get bigger than gar.
