I'm going to set it back up again

Looking good!

It's been another month since the last time I tossed some pictures up. Got a bacterial infection that took out a few neons and 3 out of 4 BN plecos. I also also lost 3 of the honey gourami's as well. Anyways it sems to have run it course and I haven't lost a fish in a couple of weeks. This adding in large numbers of small fish is turning out to be a pain as the more fish you have the more chance of disease doing a number on them.

Here's the whole tank shot

I haven't been able to pick up some more Vals but the ones I have are spreading fast enough I might just wait a month or two or split them out.

The plants continue to grow well after I've modified my fert schedule for higher calcium and potassium. The only downside is that the miserable pond snails are doubling in size on a daily basis. I tossed in a dozen assassin snails but they can't seem to keep up. I picked up some oto's (in QT) and I'm on the lookout for some more BN pleco's to out-compete the pond snails. In the meantime I'm keeping them moderately under control by squishing.

I'm starting to be please with the results but I still want more greenery. I saw a fully mature Iran Red Rainbow at the LFS and I had to pick some up. I've got 7 juveniles in QT now.

This view of the tank is my favorite at the moment. it's really starting to look like I wanted it too. At the rate the plants are growing it will be to the state I want it to be in another 3-4 months. There may be a few plants that are crowded out by then but we'll see.

Looks really good! There's always the growth/readjustment phase unless you start out perfectly planned, but it's all nice! Are you in N Cal? You should look into joining SFBAAPS if so, I did recently & haven't looked back! OK, I have the Noah's ark of tanks but it's fun!

I live 99.2 miles from SF so I barely fit into the 100 mile minimum distance to join the club. I signed up on the forums a while back but I've never been able to make it to any meetings. I travel for work and after visiting 10 countries and 21 states this past year the trip over isn't appealing.

Kind of fun to post the growth as the tank goes along. Since I'm running this tank low tech the growth is pretty slow but steady.

My stock has gotten healthy and there are no signs of disease anymore.

I've split out my vals and they are working on filling in the back of the tank. They take some time to recover when you move them and then boom they are wrapping around the top.

The crypts in the front are growing very healthily and most of the substrate is beginning to be filled over by them. I really like the look. I've got a ton of new little plantlets coming up from the runners.

This sword decided that was happy enough to send up a blossom. I guess I'll have some new little swords in a few weeks.

The pond snails are exploding in the tank. I think I need to add in another BN pleco to help control some of the algae. Maybe then the snail population will reduce to a reasonable number. I'm still seeing some algae form but it's pretty much in balance with the snails... which are a little on the high population side.

I just found out that my quick trip to Turkey and France next month (5 days) has been expanded to a tour of Egypt, Saudi, Jordan, Israel and maybe then back to Southern France before heading home (10-12 days). I'd better get too the LFS this week to fill up my QT tanks. I really can't leave a fish in QT while I travel for someone else to care for.
