IM just gonna go ahead and get fish!

I know, just wait one more week for the safety of the fish you want to buy. chances are it's just the ammo-locked ammonia, but it's always best to be on the safe side.

Well the last fish i planned on buy was a pretty dwarf gourmi

That woudl make

1x sunburst dwarf plattie
5x neons
1x otto(i dont realyl coutn him causei never see him!)
1x african dwarf frog
1x dwarf gorumi

Which would put me right at, or just a lil over my stocking limits. SO i only need 1 more fish!

dwarf gouramis are quite sensitive to water quality. best to wait a week before you add one or you might be sorry.

I think I'm with Fishcatch on this... I'd give it a week to make sure the biological filter has caught up befor adding the Gourami. The bio-filter was established with a lower bio-load than what you have now with the new additions, giving it a chance to catch up and stabilize might be prudent.

After all is done, pics would be nice... :)

I heard that neons were too but they survived when my readings showed greater than 8.0ppm ;)

SO basicly what your saying...is what i believe. That the .50ppm for me could actually be my "0ppm" in theory?

it could very well be that you have cycled. the time frame has definately passed for a 'normal' cycle.. I just wonder if you shoud start using other dechlorinators.

the chem you are using ,may actually interupt the cycle if it is locking up ammonia and rendering it useless for the bacteria.

normally, if you use something like prime or aquasafe you may see a temporary ammonia reading but the ammonia is still utulized by the bacteria and the reading should go to 0.

however, I know an experienced aquariast who is seeing a similar issue in a fishless cycle he is doing. still to be on the safe side it wouldn't hurt to wait.

btw, add fish slowly to the tank. otherwise you may see a mini spike.

With as much work as you have put into the tank already, my suggestion was probably more with your best interest in mind than the fish. With everything you have done and been through, I think you'll keep the water at acceptable levels to keep the fish healthy until everything stabilizes again. The fish would be fine. After three months already under your belt, you'd be run ragged with the water changes of a mini-cycle! LOL

For toys.... Hmmm... I heard of a fish toy... But I won't hijack your thread like that. LOL

I think instead of a dwarf gourami it might be best to get 2-3 more otos (they need groups) and another platy or two (also like the company of others.)
