Dude whatever, he waited several months for his tank to cycle..If he adds, Bio Spira, his tank will cycle in a few days..Unless you want him to wait more months..That is up to him...And how do you know it is a false reading? Are you the authority? I guess so then, huh? You see, I dont listen to everyone a persons says...When you attack and give your opinion, it is not polite to attack and at like an authority...And yea, I been keeping fishes for 10 years and I do know what I am talking about...And also, I have three 55 gallon tanks running..So you can act like an authority all you want, I gave my opinion and you attacked it..
Watermelon, you seem to have a tendency to be oversensitive. I don't think he's attacking you, just giving his opinion, just like the other thread where there was such a big hoopla about nothing. Everybody has opinions. If that opinion differs from yours, it doesn't mean he's attacking you. When voice tones can't be conveyed in written form, it is easy to misunderstand. Just pretend, as you read, that everyone's whispering what they're typing in a very gentle soothing grandmotherly tone. Please don't attack me back. Look at my avatar !! ;)

If your trying to cycle your tank why are you adding ammo-lock?

...because i had no idea what i was doing. This is my first tank :)

The tests are fine. Just bought them recently. And it pulls the same test at the LFS.

I just bought my 4 neons. and 1 ADF(as seen in my avatar) And they seem to be doing just fine :)

actually icecubez is correct.

many of the dechlorinators we use may give a false positive.

if we consider that there is an ammonia reading, nitrites are 0 and nitrates 0 and we count on the fact that no major issues occurred(like heavy cleaning of the filter).

ammonia is many times converted to ammonium..and unless the test is more specific , may read a positive for ammonia.

chloramine in ammonia and chlorine bonded it is much more stable than chlorine alone and is used by many municipal water supplies. so if this were in the water supply and ammonia was used in cycling. you can infact get a positive reading for ammonia(temporary).

however, I am not sure all chemicals used may actually convert ammonia to a usable ammonium. it is possible that some chemicals may lock up ammonia and it may not be utlilzed by the beneficial bacteria(theory). but it may read as positive for ammonia.

SO basicly what your saying...is what i believe. That the .50ppm for me could actually be my "0ppm" in theory?

...and he gave his opinion, and now your atacking it. So, your allowed to atack other peoples opinion, but nobody else is allowed to state there's?

Guess you think the tank is cycled then..Well you see, I dont believe everything a person says, especially on this board..0 nitrates I mean this is ZERO nitrates..Well guess you agree with him and guess what, your always correc attitude and overuse of your power in moderating sure makes you look like a troll moderator which I stated to the admin last time..Look at this thread where I reported it to the admin about Troll moderators:

http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=84172

And yes, you been harrasing, trolling me since I first registered...Keep it up..You are doing a horrible job as a moderator where you single people out for kicks..

I do feel that my tank is cycled. Because water change after water change the ammonia does not change.

And i had nitrates. They have already done and spiked.

Please dont high jack my thread. The last sentenct about trolling could have been sent to him in a PM not in my thread :dance2:

A cycled tank should show 0 ammonia..I am leaving..

Unless its not picking up the locked(not harmfull) ammonia cause by using so much ammo lock.

byebye then :)

wow, don't be so sensitive.... dorkfish may be a bit blunt sometimes but he really cares. I respect him deeply and I do not tolerate attacks like that. if you want something done, talk to neo about it and don't hijack threads. now, back to you, IS. i do beleive that those are sort of temporary water reaction readings as the person said, but just to be safe, don't add anything for anther week and give us new readings in 5-6 days.

And last night i bought 4 neons(to make it 6), and a african dwarf frog.....the ammonia still didnt budge.
