OMG, this heat is killing my tank!!!!!!!!!!! My central air is not working they are suppose to come fix it some time this week, but I think it's toooo late!!!!!!! My poor little damsel is DEAD!!! He went through so much and was so cute and happy he always swam out to greet me, and he was BOILED TO DEATH BECAUSE I DIDN"T NOTICE HOW HOT THE WATER WAS!!!!!!!!!!!! I KILLED HIM guys, I feel soooooo flipping horrible!!! The water was 95, my LR is turning white and my corals are all dead!!!! I am leaving the lights off for what it's worth, everything is already dead, I just feel like taking a bat to the dam thing!

Float bags/bottles of ice?

Everything is already dead in the tank...what would I be saving??? I lost my fishie, I lost my corals the LR is turning white? Will it help the LR???

SOB!!! I just thought of my starfish, I need to move the LR and see if he is dead or still alive...OK, I'll float the bags/bottles....man and the snails and hermits!! I have to check on them.:wall::wall::wall:

WOW...

thats terrible G.. I am really sorry to hear that...

Airstones would help also, as warmer water holds less o2 than cool water.. IME it's usually the o2 level that proves harmful, more so than the water temp.

Well, my star is still alive...I didn't actually move the rock around I just got a piece of shrimp and held it down there, he reached his little arms up and took it, looks like the snails and hermits are ok to. I took what Ice I had and put it in zip-locks and have it in the tank now. I'll get the airstone out of one my other 55 and put it in there.

What is really odd though is the other tanks are not as hot??? I mean, I'm VERY glad they aren't but isn't that weird?

the salinity of the water has something to do with it. it makes the water ( more or less dense) I can't remember which, ..its been awhile since i read that. ( your right z) lol

I also agree with the air stones, .the exchange, ..with a box fan blowing across the top will help. I assume, your live rock, will regenerate its self, ..just give it time, and keep an eye on you water params, from die off!! good luck hun!!

Thanks guys....I feel a little better at least now, (I did put the bat away:))...I still feel so terrible for the little damsel.

Got the airstone, in the tank my ice bags in there and the fan blowing on it...now just to sit and wait and see what happens I guess. Now, when the temp starts coming down, do I need to take things out, or continue with the ice and everything???

Sea water is more dense than fresh. But the main reason is that sea water has a smaller heat capacity(which is energy required to change the temperature of a substance by a degree) than freshwater does.
