In your opinion, whats the most beautiful freshwater fish?

All great choices in the posts above, particularly in the last few posts with pics ! I just love many of those fish, some of which I've never seen before - they're gorgeous.
But Jessica, (tanker) tsk, tsk ....... You love discus, and you have 2 tanks - 100 gal & 125 gal., - which would be absolutely perfect homes for discus, and either one would make for an utterly dramatic showpiece !
Why don't you think about giving it a go ? - Just needs a little re-arranging of your existing stock between the two tanks.
Just a little kidding of course - you'll no doubt do what you wish, but thought I'd give you just a little food for thought.
I don't have any of these yet, but Once I can afford to (and have a place to put one) I want to do a 20g long tank that's a native tank with some darters. I'd really like to get the three species below:

Aren't they?! One of the things I love about them the most is you can go catch them yourself as they are native to the US

Thank you all for the breathtaking suggestions! The last few with Pictures were extremely helpful! Great fish, and great people! Thanks abunch you guys (and gals)! Ummm.... If I was choosing JUST between the fish in my 75 gal. tank, I would have to say I love my Cockatoo cichlids! But, my pleco. also really cool.... Hmm... I'll make it easy on myself and stop picking favorites! Don't want to make the fish feel bad! Thank you all so much!
