In your opinion, whats the most beautiful freshwater fish?

You guys are awesome. Thank you all for the brilliant suggestions, the pictures, and the few of you who offered advice. You rock! Thanks!

One that is well blackened and an awesome tartar sauce to the side...

UUmmmmm...I prefer mine grilled, but also with an awesome tartar to the side.

Kidding aside. I love discus. Some of the prettiest I have seen are the Ica reds. I also love angels and one day hope to have some wild santa Isabella. Wow they are gorgeous! I also love a rotkiel (red shouldered) severum. But, I find all fish attractive. I see some from pics on here and I can't believe the amount of diversity out there!

Well... I love almost all freshwater fish. There are a couple "river monsters" that kinda freak me out. You know, I still appreciate them, I just wouldn't want to ever see one in an aquarium. But served on a silver platter breaded and fried with some ketchup or tarter on the side, now that's another story!

Too many to choose from. I love killifish, apistos, wild bettas, darters, rainbows... The list goes on and on. I also think that wild zebra loaches are particularly beautiful. I don't think I'm a huge fan of domesticated fish... If that's what you'd call them. Bred to alter their appearance. I like wild types. But I'm not a big fan of pulling them from the wild. It's a self conflict.

My ultimate dream is a discus tank, but given their...elevated price, I couldn't soon have a tank of them. Not to mention I don't really think my 55 is enough to house them. I just love the look of those tanks with the base covered in that moss (I think?) and just bright red and blue discus. Maybe some day :'(

You can get some really pretty bettas too...check out my new guy! I just ordered him off aquabid today.
