Inexpensive DIY 24x7 Drip Water Change System

Awesome....

I need a basement.

Have you thought of having a backup sump? I can imagine that if the sump pump goes bad, you have about a day or so before that fills up and over flows. Not to be a pessimist or anything. :P

I love it... I want it. I need a new house with a basement... I don't think my wife would like me running hoses around our slab......

Though.... I could do something upstairs through the wall into the tub.....

Excellent rig. I'd been thinking I need a system like that and here you are all set up with one. I love it ! I'll try to sweet talk my handy husband to set one up too.. especially if I give in to my insane urges and get a big tank like yours. Hah. Good luck to me. ;-)

how about a pic of your tank!

If anyone needs more explanation/pictures I am more than willing to share that as well.

i still dont understand Levi..... i need a full article with video explanation..... :thud:

Nice setup! I too have done something like this to my big tank, however your setup looks like it might even be cheaper and more fool proof than mine. I too would like to see some additional explanation about what specificaly was attached where and why. I'd like to try coming up with something for my smaller tanks too.

Yea, a diagram with arrows and names of parts would be great. Draw it on a napkin if you don't want to spend that much time on it. Anything would be great ! After we build ours, you can go seek a patent for it. ;)

That is the same system I started with 15 years ago. I have modifyed it over the years to where I have drip counters for each tank with needle valves for each tank. Best thing I ever did for the tanks. My ammonia and nitrates in my 80 Gal planted tank are unmeasurable and I'm working on a inline filter to remove the .5PPM Phosphate in my supply water now.

If you have chloramine the carbon filter should break the chlorine ammonia bond then remove the chlorine and leave you with the ammonia, if you have live plants this is food for the plants.
