Semantics aside, an email takes but a moment to compose...I wrote one suggesting they do not recommend fish but instead, ghost shrimp or snails. It took five minutes, and who knows? Someone might listen.

Going to say this..and accept the flack...the term inhumane and all it's variables, can only really apply to beings that can recognize they have been wronged by many of the terms associated with the action. Both at the receiving end and the giving.

I think as a society, we have murdered the original intent of the word completely. Some folks mis-treat non-human species, but the action is not inhumane.

^ Oh No He Didnt....... ^ ATTACK ! ! ! ! :)

LFS keeping bettas in cups is much worse. can't really go emailing all of them. People love using goldfish in pics. Something about that really attracts ppl and kids. just my 2cents. Everyone at AC usaully tries to do their part in their "own" way.

I agree to an extent with Just-Prince. There is nothing wrong with being disappointed over vendors product line, but to be deeply sad over it may be a waste for more important things. Something to consider with regards to deep sadness.

But I'm a card-carrying, bleeding heart, pinko liberal Fake American. My deep sadness is infinite, so it's impossible to waste. ;)

Interesting point! You inspired me to look it up. Turns out "humane" means "Having regard for the health and well-being of another; compassionate" (http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/humane) or "marked by compassion, sympathy, or consideration for humans or animals" (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/humane). It doesn't seem to depend on the victim, but rather the perpetrator, so I think this counts. If you have a more authoritative source that has a different definition, please share. I love words, and I am also annoyed when people use them incorrectly. I'd hate to do so myself!

I'm deeply sad about those tiny cups as well, but since ThinkGeek doesn't normally sell fish stuff, it would be a relatively small change for them to stop selling this product. That's why I have a glimmer of hope that they might do something if they got enough complaints. I hold no such hope for the pet stores. Just sadness... sadness that is very deep.

There was a typo in your email to thinkgeek. I'm not saying I am any better with words, just trying to poke fun :grinno:

Most bettas are more than happy in 1/3 of a gallon or more. What they want most is clean water, some heat, and yummy food.

more than happy or able to survive??? ive seen bettas in 30g tanks who do look very happy, and bettas in tiny betta tanks who simply lay on the bottom until feeding time, get up, eat and sink again. you would survive in a cupboard your whole life, you wouldnt thrive or be happy though.
