okay for some of you guys who didnt read part one of this thread, I basically have a very irresponsible friend who is trying to keep fish. He has a 50 gallon tank with two oscars and he only changes the water once in every six months. He also has guppies inside of this glass of water with no filteration. I looked inside of it and there were about 4 still alive and 5 dead. He also has a very overstocked pond. He has ten koi and 20 goldfish in there. And the pond is only 4 feet wide in diameter! Anyways yesterday I went over to his house to help him change the water. When I put in the vacuum all of these huge peices of crap flying everywhere and his Chinese algea eater was having a siezure breathing really rapidly.I told him not to change that much of the water because the oscars may die, but he just won't listen to me! Sigh...... And the worst part is that he told me that if his oscars do die, he's gonna convert to sw!! He told me he's gonna add a flame angel fish a hippo tang, a mandarin goby, a emperor angel, a clownfish, and lots of corals along with an anemone

Maybe he has some type of disorder, like someone who "collects" cats and dogs. Or maybe he just doesn't care that he's making all these animals suffer. It's not like information is hard to get about fish keeping nowdays. And you told him before.

well...you're doing what you can. either he listens or his fish will die and he will waste a lot of money. my sympathy is with the fish.

If he doesn't care about your advice, then he's not your friend.

If he starts talking about his rights and not having to listen to your advices, tell him that he doesn't notice that those are living things he is torturing, and that death (sorry, EUTHANIZING) is a better path for them than right now.

Tell him to lean a lot more than he already does right now. Also, tell him that if he's going to have a SW tank with all those fish and stuff in there, he's WASTING LOTS OF MONEY.

Either that or just stop being friends with him until he actually understands what he's doing.

*EDIT*: I'll give him some advice!! *smacks fists*
nah, jk about that.

well I don't think that he is into fish keeping so much that he would come here... But I'll give it a try to see if he will. And I'm pretty sure he doesn't have a disorder. He's just spoiled rotten by his parents. He basically gets anything he wants even if he is killing all of these fish.

haha if he sets up that sw bye bye $1,000 lol
if he doesnt accept reasonable advice thats his problem
i just feel sorry for the fish

As jpappy noted, the conversion to SW will be quite a wake up call. When you have $5 fish floating, it's bad, but when you have $50 and $100 fish floating, that really hurts. It's obvious that he wouldn't have the discipline to be even a little be successful with SW, so it will likely serve as his exit point to the hobby, after dropping a grand or two.
