Is my Neon Prego???

neons only breed under very specific conditions.

Same wc schedule. I don't think she will spawn though, unless if you have extremely soft water. Plenty of people have gravid Neons, yet nothing happens unless if you seriously want to breed them. Good luck though. :)

:werd: I have a lot of females that look the same as yours and no eggs or anything..... She looks really healthy though

well try and add peat moss to the filter and removing the carbon and keep the tank from light as this can kill the eggs, tetras lives in the amazon where their home is covered by plants, so light can reach it. They will breed in the morning. Not sure if they will breed at a ph of 7.2,but you can try!

The pH isn't critical. You need vanishingly low GH and KH, which will almost certainly have a pH around 5-6 (you'd struggle to maintain pH at 6.8 in the sort of water neons breed in), very subdued lighting and ideally peat staining to the water. But it's the hypersoft water which does it.

Female neons look like that to a certain degree all the time. The problem with neons is not getting them into breeding condition, but getting the beggers to actually Do It. They are triggered to spawn in the wild by particular conditions which are hard for the average aquarist to replicate.

The comment about separating her points to a misunderstanding about fish breeding - when egglaying fish release their eggs, it's only then that they are fertilised. Hence the male and female must be together at this point.

ahhh...well im just not gonna mess with tank....if she becomes a "baby's mama" then awesome...if not well i wasnt trying.....she's super active loves food...

I agree with Karl...breeding neons is virtually impossible unless you are trying to. They need very little KH/GH as mentioned and since the eggs are light sensitive you will need to keep them off at all times if you want the fry to make it. Unfortunately these things don't just happen out of the blue...if for some reason she spawns and the eggs are fertilized then congrats, but I wouldn't count on it...
