Is my snail dead?

Sorry, I'm back again with more problems. :( I just got home from class and I checked my snail like I always do and he was lying at the bottom of the tank half out of his shell not moving and all shrivley looking. It didn't look right to me so I tapped on the glass a little and he didn't move at all. I started to get really worried so I got my net and lightly poked him. He at least moves when I do that, but he didn't at all this time. So I scooped him up in the net thinking once the air hits him he'll go back inside, but he didn't which I thought was really weird. I know that they supposedly smell horrible when they die, but I smelled him closely and he smells normal. Is he dead? Or could he be in a deep sleep? He hasn't been moving around a lot lately like he usually does and he hasn't touched his food in days. I'm so worried. Please help.

I would recommend isolating him in a breeder trap if possible. This will make it easier for you to check on him. It does not sound good :(

I'd leave him in the water another day. Sounds like he's probably dead if he won't retract. When he starts stinking, you'll know.

Do you know what type of snail it is? If it's a tropical snail it might just be too cold. Put some food near him and see what happens. Some snail jello with added honey might be enough to get him back up and eating. There is a whole thread of different recipes for snail jellow. Also check your water for any ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, acidic water ect. Wish you luck!

If he's alone in the tank there's no point moving him since there's nothing to seperate him from. Let us know if there's any change!

Thanks. He's a golden mystery snail. I don't have a water testing kit yet, but I'll get one tomorrow if he's not dead. Thanks for the advice.

Mystery snails are a tropical snail so it's best to have a heater in the tank. Also there's no need to be sorry for coming back and asking questions, that's what we're here for!
