Hello,

So I bought some ammonia and would like to know if this is okay to use for my cycling to increase Ammonia:

Ammonia
Janitorial Strength Formula
Contains 10% ammonium hydroxide

Thank you for your help!!!

as long as it doesn't have surfactants or scents you should be golden.

I did avoid a bottle that had perfume and scents. However on this one there is not a list of ingredients, except for it containing the ammonium hydroxide. What exactly is the hydroxide portion?

Also, for a 37 gallon, how many teaspoons/tablespoons/cap fulls should I start with?

Thanks again very much!

Is it Ace Hardware brand? That's what I used... it's the right stuff.

If you are wondering about dosing... 1/3 teaspoon of that raised my 55 gallon by ~1 ppm

Cool, thank you so much everyone. This is a great forum!

Cheers :headbang2:

Yup...You got the right stuff :)

Wow, after testing I am over 6 ppm. So I am not going to add anything until I can test for a readable test.

During a new tank cycle, do any of you keep your aeration on?? (I have an aeration ring that is under a small amount of gravel that bubbles and I can control the strength) I have a bio-wheel that is part of the eclipse 37, so it runs off two paths into the water already, plus I have the aeration on and the heater on, reading about 79 degrees F.

Thanks!

Yes, I would leave the aeration on.. all you can do now is wait... the hardest part! What size is your tank?
