aww go for a 60 gallon it will humidify your bedroom just no leaveing the window open or they may get ich from a cold draft

just as you don't get a cold from a draft, fish don't get ich from cool temperatures. A cold virus has to be present and ich parasite has to be present for the fish to get it.
Fish can carry ich subclinicly and have it show up after a stressor, but that doesn't mean the stressor caused ich. it had to be present to begin with.

Sweet redemption... I acquired a FREE 10 gallon setup today... not once but TWICE. Talk about luck!
I picked up one tank today, as I got home late I wasnt able to go get the other so I will get the second setup after church tomorrow. I got tired of combing the ads on craigslist and being too late each and every time to get the good deals. So I put up a wanted on craigslist and got about 10 emails, from 2.5 and 5 gallons to 10 and 20 gallons. Some were even free. I decided to jump on 2 of the 10 gallon tanks (since that is all my apt has space for) and they both were free! I have already given this one the scrubdown with a scrubby pad and boiling hot water and its spotless. Need to get gravel and a filter, this came with an hood, light and underground filter, but I am not too keen on UGFs so I will just get a small penguin for it and seed from my tank... YAY!

I think I am jinxing myself... During work last eve I had another person call me who was giving away their albino tiger barb and they say I can have their 10 gallon tank with stand as well... I was trying real hard not to say yes, but since I wanted tiger barbs anyway I jumped on it. I will have to do some creative fishkeeping in order to pull this off...
The barb has been in the big tank swimming around just fine. I bought a new 10 gallon filter for this new 10 gallon and have it already running on the big tank to seed the filter with bacteria. My son was sitting shiva at the tank for hours watching the new fish last night making sure everyone was being nice, Tiger barbs are really lively and cute! I like the albino strain far better then the regular tiger as well, once I get all these fish organized and in seperate tanks I will start stocking the barbs in greater number. I am beyond hooked in the worst way it seems but this will be my LAST tank. If I get another one has to go cause I cant have an apartment full of aquariums!

Just wait til the big tank bug hits and youu see that frist 125g at the yard sale or in the paper. Then you start to notice all the types of fish you can not get because the 125g is not big enough and you start dreaming of a really big tank and before you know it you have 10 tanks that fill up one room in your house but no really big tank. Then you will be fully addicted to fish keeping. I just pick up another tank myself 72g bow front with everything. No more room in house for tanks.
Also, make sure you keep one of those tanks for a QT tank, you'll be happy you did the first time you have a lone sick fish, or after you introduce new fish (crossing your fingers the whole time like I used to) and bring in some nasty disease!!!
