I've got BBA UGH

Well..
After 80 hours of pure darkness, I took everything off my tank to give it light and noticed absolutely no change at all. It did nothing... :headshake2:
Even the very thin coating of green algae on the driftwood is still there 100% the same as before I did the black out.

It was a DIY but I removed the bottles before I turned the lights out and have not hooked it back up and I'm not going to. I never had BBA until I added CO2...

The BBA actually was grew more during the black out and there's BBA in places it never was before... And my algae eater doesn't do **** ...

Now what?

If I was to use DIY co2 I would get EXTREME Algae Growth like I got now.

If I do add CO2 to my tank again I will use a bottle so I will have more control.

I had almost no algae before DIY CO2 and after about 3 weeks of DIY CO2 this is the algae I got...

Scrub as much of the BBA off as you can. Add a phosphate remover to your filter. Keep up on your CO2. I couldn't get the stuff under control under I started removing the phosphates. My nitrates are low, but adding nitrates via ferts just seemed to boost the algae levels, as I have slow growing plants in a low tech tank. Since adding the phosphate remover I can fertilise again, and the algae has died off on it's own.

What type and how much lighting do you have?

I battled BBA for more than a month then cut my wpg back and it went away in just a week. If it stays gone for another week I am going to raise the wpg back up and see if it starts to come back or if its gone for good.

I will try that, thanks for the info.

I got 65 watts CF on a 29 gallon tank.
I think I will wait until I got more plants before I try CO2 again, I have also stopped fertilizing my tank. I'm going to put back my EMP 400 filter and build off of that.
My Val's growth rate was about 1" per day on the runners they put off.
I'm changing my substrate to 3M sand next week also.
