allright eveyone i got to think about it and if any one else got anything to say it will help alot..... thanks

29 gallon tank.. I think that's 30" by 12.5"? I'd be concerned about 2 firemouth in a tank like that, and they only grow to about 6"! The JD gets MUCH bigger than that. I'd want at least a 4' tank for him. In a 29 I'd be thinking about Cryptoheros or smaller.

then your depmsy is deformed, each dempsey needs 40-50 gallons to be comfortable in my opinion

the 29g the dempsey is in is only temporary.. its normal home is a 55g

forget that crap... temporary or not its t o o s m a l l. The dude said he had it for 4 freakin years... ITS ONLY TOPS 6 INCHES!!! that fishes growth has allready been stunted... An adult dempsey grows way bigger then that(male or female)in the first year!!! Just suck it up and get a 55g so the poor fish has some swimming room or get rid of it!!! geez

My dempsey of 2 years is almost 9 inches and still Growing. please get a better tank or just get the poor soul to a petstore who buys fish

i cant really get a bigger tank since im only 14 and this is my first tank . also i have no job but if i did i would have atleast a 55 but for 29 is good enouf so no jd. but since the jd is 4 years old and stunted its growth will the fish grow more in a bigger tank? or is it stoppd?

Fish usually constantly grow, putting it in a larger tank can induce a growth spurt.

Stunting causes stress on the internal organs of the fish.

alright then no jd and thanks for the suggestions eveyone

Good decision, Nate. Sometimes being responsible is harder than irresponsible. Keep at it, upgrade to larger tanks as you can. Thanks.

Nate...you will often get conflicting opinions...there will always be some one that comes on and says the exact opposite. For whatever reason, they try to justify it can be done or it is all right to do.

Measure your tank. Research how big a JD gets. Imagine yourself in a room 4 foot by 4 foot by 7 foot tall. Would you be thriving? How about if we through 4 more people in there?

Still fish arent as big as we are. And they dont need all that much space mostly what they need is a hiding spot.
