I added some Java Moss to my tank several months ago thanks to the kindness of a member here who mailed me some of hers.

The plant has really taken off in there and is looking GREAT.

Last night I noticed what seem to be some kind of regular attractive brown growth on the leading edges of the Java Moss.

Does this stuff flower? It looks like it's blooming. I know, this thread is useless without pics. I'll snap one tonight, but for now all I have is a description.

At one time the java moss in my 10 gal was covered in spores, they're gone now. Pic:

RTR- Your replies, although technically and literally accurate, were not really helpful to the thread as the point of my post was trying to figure out WHAT the brown stuff growing on my plant was. :) I guess i was totally wrong to use the word bloom, I do apologize. I guess the author of the article I found was also incorrect in his terminology.

Here are some images I took tonight, as promised:

I freely admiy that I am a stickler for terminology, but I consider someone saying that a moss is blooming to bad info and part of the way myths arise. Sporocarps to me do not in any way look like flowers.

those brown apendages will hold the moss to a surface quite securely. Similar in function to the tendrils ivy uses to hold itself down.
