Well, I have yet another tank :)

Was at the LFS the other day and they were selling the Jebo M31 system. It's a 5-gallon tank and comes with a power filter and a 18-watt power compact light.... all for $40.00 Sounded like a good deal to me! The main selling point was the 18-watt power compact. That's 3.6 watts per gallon :D

I didn't like the internal power filter it uses so I bought an Aquaclear Mini for it which is working quite nicely. I guess the only thing I'm worried about is finding replacement bulbs for it..... I haven't seen 18-watt power compacts anywhere :(

So, does anyone else have a Jebo tank? Are they pretty good? It seems to have decent build quality and I like it so far.

What do you plan to put in such a small tank? I'm not sure it was a good deal, considering you can buy a 20 gallon for just under 20 bucks in my area and then a filter for another 20 bucks. So, if you have a real purpose for this tank then yes I suppose you did well but fish are limited in a 5 gallon. :(

It is going to be a breeding tank for dwarf puffers. I'm going to put a male and a female in there and see if I can get them to spawn. Right now I'm in the process of getting it densely planted with live plants.

Dwarf puffers are only 1" long when fully grown, so a 5 gallon is perfect for a pair of them :)

I hope they get along in that tiny space. If I know puffers they have a personality that is much larger than their actual size. just because a fish is small doesn't mean they don't need space.

I'm not familiar with puffers, but it kind of goes along the line of Danios. Many people seem to think because these fish are small, and slender that they can be put in 5, and 10 gallon tanks. In reality, they have the personality of an oscar and need ample room to swim around in. I wouldn't put danios in anything under 20 gallons, but thats a whole other discussion for another time I suppose. :)

Thanks for the advice.

I do know quite a bit about dwarf puffers, so I'm not just throwing them in there newbie style. I'm waiting until I have very dense plant growth and they have room to establish their territories. The most successful account of breeding dwarves I've found on the internet was done with pairs of them in small tanks: http://www.rr.iij4u.or.jp/~kohda/en/en-dwarfpuffer.htm
