every time I read a thread on AC about combining two tanks it seems like the general concensus is that it would be much more efficient, and safe, to just buy a larger tank...

Also, if you're over stocked I can see combining the tanks helping out, but I don't see it being an advantage for keeping larger fish.
When you say around here are you referring to this site? I have checked a couple of times but they have always been sold.
It is not so much as over stocked as it is just giving them more area to swim. My bala sharks really like to move and I thought giving them more length to swim would be good for them.
well at least your trying to think of new ways..... putting two tanks together just wont work. building your own or finding one local will be your best bet.
