wow, id really like to see ya catch it, so we can get pics...
id hate to see you kill it, not only since its a senseless death, but whats the chances its not a mantis?.. is there still the possibility that it could be a pistol shrimp?
it has to be eating something... are any of your fish or inverts missing?

The chances are slim it is not a mantis because I looked at lots of pics today but if I could design a better trap that just covered his hole so he couldn't get out AND he would be trapped that would be the way to go. I'm scared that if the hole is uncovered altogether he's going to hurt somebody.

Honestly there are so many snails and crabs I wouldn't know if anyone was MIA...I have lots of empty shells for them to grow into so I can't identify dead guys that way either. I'm open to other trap ideas. Just need it to cover the hole...

Hitchiking fishie

This is the little guy that hitchhiked on the rocks Richard pulled up...nice long boat ride. But he was a "gift" rather than hitchhiker into my tank. He's a cutie little guy...certainly less than an inch long and adventurous once the lights go down. He is a Cardinal.

Hitchhiking Feather Dusters

There guys are out all of the time, filtering, filtering. They hitchhiked in on my Live Rock. What a life...eat, eat, eat - crawl in your comfy tube and sleep, sleep, sleep. That's what I'm talking about.

Nice! That crab needs to just pick an outfit. Good luck with the manits.
"Cover up the hole" never work. Whether it is for ant, termine, rat, squirrel... and definitely not when it is the shrimp with the most powerful kick on earth.
