Jpappy's planted 20 gallon long "build" thread

Well...jumped the gun a little and my wallet probably isn't going to like me for a while.

Ended up with 8 C. pygmaeus for the 15g and a dwarf gourami for the 20 long. Unfortunately, there seems to have been at least one C. habrosus that were in the same tank as the other corys and I ended up with one as well. Doesn't seem to be fitting in with the others either.

QTing in the 10, so hopefully they all turn out all right.

Lost the lone habrosus and one of the pygmies overnight. A bit worried since nothing seemed out of the ordinary with the pygmies. The habrosus never seemed to settle in, which may be attributed to the fact that it was the only one (wish I paid more attention when the guy was bagging). The rest are still very active and seem to be eating well but we will see. I'm a bit cautious of the quality I purchased since this was apparently the first time the LFS has kept any of the smaller cory species in stock.

It's been a while since I updated...

The DG didn't make it either, unfortunately. Not a huge loss but was a bit disconcerting. It was eating well and was quite active. For whatever reason it seemed to be losing weight more so than gaining, and it eventually passed one night. Possibly DGIV but who knows...

I moved over the pygmy corys to the 15g not too long ago. They seem to be doing well but they're very skittish and don't like to be out when I'm around. Not sure if it's their nature, or possibly the tank being on a wire rack is making my movements more pronouced, but I'm hoping that getting them some company will make them feel more comfortable. Which brings me to what I plan on stocking...

I was very adamant about getting A. sidthimunki for the 20 long but I've finally convinced myself I cannot justify spending $70 (not including shipping) just to get a group of a decent size. I'd rather spend that money and be able to stock the rest of the tanks. So, I'm thinking of transferring the pygmy corys to the 20 long, adding more of them, and then going with the "nano" fish idea I had originally intended just with some minor adjustments...

-4 x T. pumila (ordered from Mg)
-12 x T. espei (ordered from Mg)
-10 x N. marginatus (hoping to get from Rach)
-12 x C. pygmaeus (6 x transferred from the 15, 6 x from Rach)

A bit on the heavy side in terms of numbers, but all small fish. That leaves the 15 gallon empty but I'm thinking maybe some peacock gudgeons in there as the focal point...we'll see. Also ordered some RCS to add to the 5.5 from Mg.

Cool ideas! Sorry to hear about your cories...I just lost one out of the blue, myself :( it was three and a half years old.
