I personally (and impersonally) find it a bit disingenuous to say that you "Googled" something when you do not use Google.com as the search engine. Any thoughts?

i thought that was the point. if you didnt use google, then you didnt google it. anyone who says they 'googled it' and didnt use google is WAYYYYY too far in over their head and needs to read a dictionary. :p:

Very true....how can you google something and not be a googler using google????

To borrow one of my favorite quotes from "The Princess Bride": "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

Just like people say "Jello" and it is some off brand stuff.

Google is becoming a verb and will lose it's brand name. Kinda like Nylon did.

It is easier to say that "I googled it" than "I searched the Internet for it".

I found myself recently telling someone to "google it".

It also sounds better than "I asked Jeeves"...

if i saw someone NOT use google and then tell me they googled it, i would call them a liar. when i say im googling something, i'm using google. if i wasnt using google, i wouldnt say i was googling it.

if i eat something with a fork, i dont tell people im eating with a spoon. ;)
