Just over three hours to vac my gravel!

Wow, Debra Mark you have a tourist attraction. What's the admission charge if ever I'm in the neighborhood
I just cleaned my 66g because of the warm weather...50%change took me an hour but I wasn't hurrying. I felt sorry for them lol :)

Hey Swimfins.....if you're ever in this neck of the woods....come on over! :)

Better yet, what are you going to do when there's a full grown Xingu lower mac in there? :shark: lol

Yeah I have been bitten a few times , but it is not the cichlids its the 10" tinfoil barbs. That is what I have been thinking about lately, that why I asked you if you stick you hand in your tank with your wolf, I think I am going to have to think of a better way than getting in the tank especially with a potential 3 ft Xingu wolf fish. LOL. I heard the big wolf fish could possibly take your one of your fingers off, if I get in the tank that would be the least of my worries! LOL

Most of my tanks are planted to heavily planted. Others are planted RFUG, so comparable to the regular planted tanks. Unplanted RFUG is trivial, you never get anything. Those neither planted nor RFUG have about 1/2" of substrate and take very short times to vacuum. The total tank footprints run about 75 square feet, so it has to be fairly efficient/low labor or it would be neglected.

I always wondered what you did for maintenance RTR, I but Ime doing one big tank is easier than doing many smaller tanks like you have , and 75 square feet of tanks is a lot of space. What do you do for storage water RTR?

Holly....it NEVER ends...
Our tank doesn't seem very big to us anymore....it's nice when someone new comes over and we see it from a different perspective again.
My husband is already talking about building a bigger tank....8000 gallons has been mentioned.....

Thanks Debra my tanks not quite as deep as yours so I would have to say that yours would be much more fun! I agree, I am also thinking of a bigger tank, but I think I am going to have to think of another way to stop the gravel from getting muck in it. Maybe I should do a 10,000g RUGF. When will we ever be satisfied!LOL

It only takes me 50min to do a water change.

It took me an hour cause I was watching my soap at the time :) Ash Bucket and hose method too, I've overflowed a couple time during the luv scenes

Luv scenes are when I get most of my work done!LOL

My 10 gallon takes me all of 10 minutes, but that's because it's on the kitchen counter right next to the sink... So it couldn't be easier to gravel vac and re-fill. I do a 50% water change on it every week.

My 125 takes about 1 to 1.5 hours. I gravel vac the whole thing, messing up all the decor and fake plants to do a thorough job of it, and then put all the decor back while it's refilling. I usually do about a 30% water change with gravel vac every Sunday.

I currently have another 135 gallon in the garage that we're trying to determine where to put it in the house.... Then i'll have to figure out what day of the week to do the maintenance on that one, because i'm quite sure my hubby won't want to watch the kids for 3 hours every Sunday so I can play with my fish!

:dive:

When I first got my 70 gallon tank home I tried to convince my daughter to get in it so I could take a picture. :) She was 5 at the time so she would have fit easily and it would have been such an awesome picture. But, she wasn't down with it and doesn't like being fully submersed in the water anyhew....
