Juvenile Angelfishes

but are you saying that it can't be done?

I speak from experience.. i also have the knowledge that there are other learned fish keepers that are successful doing this.

discus are not as weak willed as many might think or be lead to believe.
they are alsonot as tough to raise as they 'use' to be.

I specifically said many people have success with it, but from what I have seen it is too unlikely to work to attempt it. It is our duty to these animals to do the best we reasonaly can for them, and running a risk like mixing angels and discus is too risky for it to be said that they are fine together. They are just on the unlikely rather than the likely side of the line of compatibility to attempt it. I don't see the need to anyways, each is beautiful enough on its own. You can have enough problems with bullies and those on the bottom of the pecking order with either one of these fish, why increase the likelihood of problems by mixing them.

ahh..but if someone asks..should we simply say no it can't be done?
or that there are risks when mixing or even not mixing species.

doing the best we can does not eliminate risks..but then again in the wild there are even more risks.

just so you know I respect your opinion.

i had a huge school of neons in my angelfishes tank.if they grew up they would not eat my neons right???

what u all mean is i cannot keep discus with my angels???the angels quite small im trying to get a breeding pair when they grow up.i kept around 5 juveniles so if more angels the better or more angels the more the consequences???

I don't see why a person should not be told that it has worked, but they should definitely be told that it is likely to give them (or their fish rather) some problems.

Yes, from what I can tell if angels grow up with the neons (or other small tetras that would usually be eaten) they probably will not eat them. However, you can't ever add to the school. And this may also require that you keep them all well fed.

I wouldn't keep angels with discus. It is too risky. If you are wanting a breeding pair of angels go ahead and add more angels, not more discus. This will increase the likelihood of a pair (or two to pick from). Do you have a smaller tank to use for quarantine/hospital/breeding?

ya i going get a 60cm by 30 by 30 breeding tank on my birthday.I gave all my fishes in there some freeze dried bloodworms and some flakes.i fed them bloodworms to make their colour enhanced and it worked my angelfishes are now very healthy plus the other tetras and corys inside the tank.Their colours are improved better than last time. Now i noe that worms are good source for them cause i saw they are carnivorous.

my 1st fish going to try to breed.its so hard to breed gouramis so in the end i try angelfishes.i read in a book that says keeping 5 to 8 fishes will have a likelihood of getting a pair
