Well the good news is the outpatient center I work at is closed down tomorrow, so I don't have to go to work. The bad news is it's because of Hurricane Katrina. Well It's not as bad as last year, this one's only a cat. 1. We're not too worried, going to get a lot of rain and a good bit of wind. Right now it's raining sideways! My parents' have already lost electricity, I'm sure ours will go out eventually. It went out briefly a few minutes ago so I thought I'd post while I still can. It's supposed to make landfall near Ft. Lauderdale, a little south of us, in the middle of the night. Why do they always seem to hit during the night??

Well,Virginia,at least it's not as bad as last year, didn't you guys get like 4 hurricanes?
At any rate, batton down those hatches any you guys stay safe!!

Good luck with that, stay safe!!! Why can't there be any area that is "safe"!!?!?!? In the south you get hurricanes, droughts out west, tornadoes in the plains/midwest, earthquakes on the west coast, floods wherever they happen, GEEZ

Good luck to you and yours as well as anyone else in the area. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.
Dave

When I moved from Florida earlier this year to Japan, I thought I was done with hurricanes for a while. Little did I know that instead they have Typhoons that come across the island. We already had 2 close calls and another just this week.

At least I get to go back to the states for a conference next week. Get another break. Cali here I come. :thm:

Katrina has just ended up really annoying for my family. I live just barely north of where the wind was really blowing. We had all our dentist and pediatrician appointments for today, and of course they got cancelled even though there is realistically no reason. It's wet outside, but that's about it. Now my hubby will have to take off work again next week to go. :hang:

Hope everyone here made it through the 'cane ok?
I saw on the news that 4 people had died-every single one of them was either hit by a falling tree, or (1 case) hit a tree trying to miss a falling tree!
Wonder what the odds are on that?
Still think I'll stick with the midwest, where mostly all you need is a cellar!
:hang: in there everyone!

I live in Pompano and we got some pretty good winds. A few snapped off palm trees in the area but all in all not to bad. Power stayed on and now I have the day off.
By the way , i was previously a member here as "FISH"several years ago.

There is somewhere safe. It's called the North East:D As long as you don't mind the occassional ice storm/blizzard....

I'd love to live in florida, but the weather makes me think twice.

Hope everyone's okay.

Are you inviting us to move in with you and the new hubby to form a new colony? I am not sure some people are comfortable with this. :D
