The claim itself is exaggerated because this simply involves a healthy fish. By logic, it would be very impossible for snails, how much more a Pomacea diffusa specifically, to latch onto a healthy fish that can shake them off very easily. However, there have indeed been very few cases, and such are considered very rare instances, involving the canaliculata complex such as Pomacea canaliculata and Pomacea insularum attacking the fish but none of the reports indicated the fish were healthy to begin with. This is however very rare and can be avoided by not encouraging your snails to eat on fish meat as they could develop a taste which will render them incompatible in some instances especially if a fish is very slow moving and unable to escape quickly when combined.
