Ok... Just did a Ph test on the ten. Ph is still 7! Grr... I have some shells I found on the beach (and cleaned) in there... I wonder if they're buffering the Ph. I'll take them out and see what happens.
That was my thought too lol. Ph in the ten is down do 6.8. Added another leaf... I'll test again before starting the acclimation, and if it's not at least 6.4, I may put him/her in the 29 with the lower Ph, but less tannins. What do you guys think?
Alright, got a Pm from my guy. Something happened and he couldn't get them shipped until today. they should be here saturday though! (probably a good thing... Just Added another leaf to the ten, cause when I last checked it was STILL 6.8!) at this point, in order to get the needed tint in the 29, I'll probably wind up trying some mopani. (tank needs a rescape anyways lol) the Ph is ideal in the 29 anyways, and as I recall wood doesn't have as much Ph effect as the leaves.
idk...i got the terrarium wood, it had the dark black spots on it...that may have helped....but yeah...big ol chunk of terrarium wood its the big orangie chunk in the middle of the tank
EDIT: Rofl...this is an old picture....the tank is so much nicer to look at now...lmao...anyways mopani...yeah...good
oh yeah dude i forgot. When you get the wood run your hand over it to check for sharp spots, at the petco i went to they had a bunch of pieces that had sharp splintery stuff on it...if it pokes and stabs at you it'll probably do the same to your plec. I'd say probably just sand the bad spots down with some med grit sand paper and then rinse off the dust. but yeah...don't want your little guy stabbing his guts out :swear:
