Any else heard of lawn mower blenny's eatin' coral? Or nipping at clam mantles? I just added one to my tank a few days ago and someone told me that they might nip at stoneys or clam mantels... but it has never been confirmed. He is a cool fish, hardly see him though (he hides most of the time that I am looking for him).

Bi-Colored is not an algae blenny.. never heard of nor have ever seen a lawnmower, starry blenny, or orange spot blenny (3 most common algae blennies) do any harm to any corals.
I've never seen a lawnmower blenny nip at corals or a clam, either. We had a lawnmower blenny in a tank with a clam for more than 6 months and he never bothered it, and in the tank with various corals for almost a year without me ever seeing it nip at them.
they are just trying to eat the diatoms and film algea,. they do this on all surfaces even my turbo snail and astreas,.. them especially them for they have alges growing on them,..lol no harm just trying to feed if they don't have algea they won't live long mine eat flakes like it going out of style but he has his algea rock,.. and diatoms,.. and film to,..
Thanks folks. The funny thing is that if you look up lawnmower blenny all the descriptions make reference to the fact that have been known to nip corals but then go on to say that it has never been observed.
My duncan is doing better as of last night. I think it was stressed because of a ric that was close and the blenny swimming over the top of it.
Now the blenny just sit on top of my blue/green favia (which apparently could care less).

I have had my Lawnmower Blennie for a year now and have never seen him bother any coral other than laying on them, other than that all he does is eat algae ,bite me when my hand is in his tank and wait for me to put some nori in his clip.
I've kept lawnmower blennies and tons of different corals together and never had a problem. Also kept them with crocea clams without incident too. I consider them as reef-safe as can be.
