Let’s Talk Fertilizer & Schedule ( again)

Great! I forgot to say I'm sorry you lost 1 of your gudgeons, it's sad. Makes me think they came with the ich, not the rams etc, ich doesn't kill fast usually. I think you called it when you thought they might have had it in their gills. Could you tell if it was the possible male?

Good luck with your continued tx!

Ty, It was the little one ya, the only one without a black line on the top fin. My personal favorite. But yes I am suspecting that as well.
fingers crossed this medicine will do it. I did start off at full dose this time around as well.

I am continuing to dose
daily with ParaGuard.
However since I posted last , all of the gudgeons have died :/ ( thinking this confirms they had it the longest :/ ) . My ammonia reads safe ( in tank Seachem reading ) api is still funky nitrates are at 5
all the other fish are visible symptom free. So as
Long as I don’t skip any doses or stop too soon, Here are some pics of the tank.

I am sorry to hear that, but are you sure that those medications are actually safe for peacock gudgeons? Do they state it is safe for all fish, or are there exceptions?

From what I read the PG weren’t a fish sensitive to medication. The Pygmy Corydoras were suppose to be the ones I was watching for that.
the 1st one that I found dead didn’t have visible symptoms Of ich but the other two in the final days I noticed lots of white spots heavily on the gill areas But not the body or fins. But because they hide so much I am assuming the first one did too.
I thought the long road of half dose maybe just didn’t work in time for them. Since I didn’t see symptoms until the GBR pair. ( the peacocks were purchased in the weeks prior). So I do believe they were fighting it the longest :/

The other possibility is the GBR pair? They are brightening up and even have developed the breeding tubes ( is that what they are called ?) they didn’t have them this distinguishable before. And their flat rock is right by where the PG’s hung out.
Maybe they are prepping for fry & took them out?
while possible I truly did suspect ich as the culprit. The api said half dose for scaleless fish. And the new ParaGuard one is suppose to be safe for what I have :/

If they had ich it would be the cause, but and I know Fish'o and others are going to disagree with this but once you are going to use these malachite green etc based medications, and you have to use it half strength as not to affect certain fish/plants/invertebrates, the efficacy against pathogens goes down as well, on other words, it's going to take longer. Personally, I am glad I found something better, and am never going to use those old school products again, at least not in a planted/community setting.

Yes, I wish I hadn’t have been so scared to full dose. I am always nervous about adding anything I just wish I had gone full strength and maybe coulda saved them :/
