lets see your tang tank

you should just kill the light to the tank and do a heck of a lot of water changes and kill your phosphates down to 0 and nitrates

I'm only running 6 hours of light, enough to keep some of the plants alive. I don't expect I have any problems with phosphates though, as the plants will pretty much soak that up and I don't do much in terms of supplementary fert dosing.

It's quite possible that I've already surpassed the zoospore stage, most people say it only lasts 20-25 days, but I've been told it should drop on its own which it has not done. I've just been afraid to disturb the algae only to have it come back thicker and stronger.

I'll probably try get rid of it anyways...what have I got to lose at this point? Might as well try to enjoy the tank for now.

I would really be radical on this. No plants, no ferts, use a phosphate remover, large frequent water changes and just 4 hr light period.

he doesnt lol

Um, yeah...LOL

I'm currently trying to get rid of this PITA crap to see what happens and now remember why its called green dust algae...as soon as it wipes off it literally clouds up and looks like a bunch of dust got into your tank. :wall:

Oh the joys of GDA...

Forgot to mention it also leaves a lovely whitish residue thats even harder to scrape off than the algae itself.

Man, that's really a hateful plague! I think GDA means green devilish algae.
