I notice that there is not alot of talk on Gouramis here lately. I am the proud new owner of a Gold Gourami and plan on getting more. Tell me about yours no matter what type, stocking levels, temperament etc.

Had 3 pearl's in a 55g, as I've been led to believe they're not true pairing fish. If pairs are kept, the female gets hounded!

The male had wonderful brown and white speckles, with a deep red throat, and a sprayed caudal fin. Females lacked the red throat and sprayed caudal fin.

Think I had a harsh male, as he didn't let up much on the girls. Was certainly the boss of the tank!

Golden/Blue/Opaline gourami's are more aggressive than pearl's!

We have an opaline and a gold. The opaline is more territorial than the gold (also more skittish), but they get along fine since we added more plants and re-arranged a bit. It's strange to watch them use their feelers when investigating something, kind of like arms.

I've had a pair of thicklip gouramis in the past and loved them. I've also had paradise gouramis, which bred like rabbits; I never found them to be aggressive towards each other or other fish though. At one point I had a pink kisser gourami "Pinky" rescued from a 29 gallon tank. Currently I have a platnium 3-spot (gold color morph) and she's not aggressive at all. Then I have honey gouramis and dwarf gouramis as well. Eventually I would like to get pearls and sparklings.

I have 2 gouramis. One is the typical 3 spotted gourami -- she was abandoned in a bucket in the apt complex where I lived and I saved her (although until recently I always assumed she was a he). I've had her for 7 1/2 years. She and my parrot cichlid are the best of friends, they're almost always together.

My daughter recently picked out a dwarf gourami (orange and blue -- not striped). Also female I'm pretty sure. She tends to pick a little on my old one, and is a little more aggressive, but very pretty.

Good luck with your new ones! I really like gouramis - especially their feelers, too cool.

Great, finally some proud gourami owners! I plan on picking up a blue 3 spot tomorrow and adding some plants. I hope they dont pick on each other too much.

I have owned a regular paradise fish, sparkling, licourice, honey and dwarf gouramis. I like gouramis. My petstore got in spike-tailed paradise fish and I really want one even though I have no place to put one.

We have a pearl, a blue, a gold, a snakeskin, a chocolate, and a paradise in our planted 150. The snakeskin is the only male, so they all get along just fine. They share the tank with four SAE, some cherry barbs, kuhlis, and a male betta.

I just got 2. One mysteriously died though, he was being really shy and hardly ate... but i guess this is normal in these fish... the shyness and eating that is.... The survivor is enjoying himself and having the time of his life.lol

What are you feeding yours? ive heard they prefer live foods...
