LFS....yuck

Indeed. Please keep us updated. I am aware of a few larger chain pet stores that deserve what they get. If shown evidence that what was said is true, the court system should (I realize they don't) dismiss any lawsuits made by corporations against forums. I'm sure people could provide enough evidence to the contrary, but most of it would likely be thrown out in favor of the corporation.

Thanks for stepping up BracKeeper! Too many people fail to stop this crap when they see it! Even if it just stops it in your local area it's well worth it.

Good job! I hope they get fined the big bucks. If they can't afford to feed the creatures they sell, they shouldn't be in the business of selling creatures.

Animal Control has called back...
They say..

We have spoken with the manager about the tank conditions in the store. The manager understand that the conditions of the fish and tanks are deplorable and will not be tolerated. The will send someone over undercover over the next few weeks to make sure that the store is making the necessary adjustments, and that their anamils are healthy and being fed properly. They also said that they will not permit the store to sell the fish until the officer deems they are healthy enough.

I paid a visit to said LFS to find signs on the tank that read not for sale, the clips were full of algea and there were no dead fish in any of their tanks...makes them look kind of empty...The fish were still emaciated, however they were eating. I hope this teaches them their lesson, however sadly it will probably just happen over and over again, but we can hope!

Yay. even if it happens again, they've been warned. since your animal control is good enough to look into the situation and get it fixed, they'll probably react even more strongly if this store becomes a repeat offender.

Good for you! Please do keep up with the updates....I never would have thought animal control would step in for fish. Not only is it cruel to the fish, but then they have to keep yanking these things out of the ocean just to let them die in captivity.
