Light bulb for 10 gallon hood?

Hi Aquaria! I want to add plants into a 10 gallon that I want to use for a pair of german blue rams. However.. Im not sure what bulb to use for the hood

Its a plain hood ... I tried to use regular light bulbs (round shaped) and they didnt fit because the hood can only hold slim bulbs like the one in the picture...

What kind of bulb should I get? I want to keep low light requirement plants like java moss and such

suggestions?

You know those daylight bulbs you put in your ceiling fixtures?
Go to walmart or something and get a pair of those.
Try looking for a smaller spiral , the ones from walmart 13W seem to do well, remember get daylight.

isnt it like 2 watts per gallon? so shouldnt I try to get a 20 watt or something?

even with them taken off.. the bulb doesnt fit

Try the U-shaped CF bulbs, not the spirals. One brand that I see at Walmart is Lights of America. Make sure they are marked daylight. I have a 10g hood with 2 20w bulbs in it.......so I know the U-shaped ones fit.

I use 13w (60w Equiv) GE Spiral CFL in the same hood as you.
Its a tight fit, but they'll fit.
