In Cheyenne, once a year, they hold Cheyenne Frontier Days. It's basically 10 days of rodeo, concerts, carnival, and oh yeah, people. Literally hundreds of thousands of people descend on this town of about 50,000. It's a madhouse. Roads are congested, the annual murder usually takes place during these 10 days, and doing anything, from shopping to filling up the gas tank, becomes a major hassle. The entire town is turned over to this--signs everywhere, parking and shuttle lots, 'specials' just for the occasion--even the restaurants get into it, and all the waiters end up looking like misplaced cowboys.
I try to go elsewhere during this time. While I'm sure it's loads of fun for the people coming into town, it's just a headache for me. Anyone have anything similar in their area?
