cam-I've been considering getting a bird. I would like something small. What's your take on finches?

i love finches, definitly not cuddly birds but much less work and more interesting than tv. zebra finches are colorful, have a cool song, and look too funny when they build little nests. not many people hand raise finches but they can be very loyal if they are, kind of a longshot tho
Have you heard of a society finch? They have them at the LFS. They are $14.99 each.
Maybe you can suggest birds that stay small but are a bit more friendly than the finches.
