Looking to buy a new laptop, ACER likes & dislikes

Here's an article link that lists computer brand's 3 year history failure rate.

I'll probably get the latest 15 inch XPS Dell laptop, even though it'll cost around $1000.00 (upgrade battery and screen to 1080p). I'll still wait for the new user reviews over the next month to see how people like it. Always search for "Dell Coupons" in google when buying a Dell PC. I found a coupon code on a site that got me 26% off my desktop purchase that was already being heavily discounted. Hopefully I can a discount code on those new line of laptops this holiday.

All good things to think about, I am looking to spend somewhere around $700 if that helps anyone to help me make an informed decision.

Check newegg.com, amazon.com, staples.com and bestbuy.com and look at their buyer's reviews. I trust a lot of buyer's reviews more than I trust magazine reviews.

from the link posted above...

and this...
In the United States market the Acer brand generally stands for value. Acer’s Aspire One netbooks and laptops have consistently been among the least expensive products in their respective markets. Acer is not alone in this pursuit of value, however, and is often unable to undercut competitors like ASUS and Dell.
from here... http://smidgenpc.com/2010/04/23/the-best-laptop-brands-a-comprehensive-review/ ... i think asus speaks for itself...

I buy nothing but acer, they are great laptops.

plain and simple. I have a mini acer and it's good for quick and on the run type things but I rely heavily on my dell. I have never had issues on it yet but I run firefox instead of IE. Not sure if that makes a difference because I heard IE is just easier for hackers and viruses to get in... whatever the case, firefox works just as good and my dell has been working like a charm...

I had to buy a new laptop this past spring when a virus nailed my Dell. I went with an ASUS and it's an awesome computer. For what I got memory wise, it was a great deal. The IT guy at work was really impressed with it, said it's an awesome machine. He still can't believe how little I paid for it.
