Lost a lot of my fish

It turns out that marineland is going to get me a replacement heater or refund my money. Also they might cover the fish but I have to go get an estimate for all of the loss.

Quote them for the price of adults since that is when they died. Bag all your fish and take photos of each one and send it to them with a price qoute from a LFS to get those specific ones back in.

The heater was a little over a year old. After talking to marineland last night they are changing to a new heater line. I will be switching all of my heaters to other types.

I use the marineland visitherm deluxe's in all my tanks. I was just thinking about getting 4 news ones to replace the twoo 300W's in my discus tank and my pleco tank. I've never had trouble with these but I like to replace them about every 18 months just to try to avoid them going bad and getting stuck "on". Should I wait until they get their new line?

I have one of the glass heaters they make and have never had a issue with it, as a matter of fact it is like 10 years old and still runs better than any other heater i have ever had.

guess it lives up to its name of stealth STEALTH KILLER that is

sorry to hear of it

that's really sad to hear....those are my favorite heaters!

I have experienced this in a small tank once with a cheapy heater. Because of this, I never run a heater that has total wattage for that tank. It's much safer if you get yourself 2 lower watt heaters because when they do go out, that can't possibly heat the water that high. IT's easier to do it this way in a larger tank, of course.

Good advice Angyles. I am in the market for a heater/heaters for my 55 and this is what I am doing as well. Less chance of cooking your fish if it does malfunction.

wow I am really sorry for your loss.
