Low Tech or Semi-High tech?

I've been doing a bit of research, and I think I have a good idea of what I need: a fertilizer, preferably in liquid form, containing little to no macro elements, since that would lead to an increased growth of algae, and a range of micro elements, such as iron, boron, copper, zinc, and manganese. I would also do well to use Excel, adding to the amount of Co2 in the tank and helping the plants utilize the fertilizer, hopefully out-competing the algae. However, I'm still on the fence with the root tabs since they would really only help the Valls, and possibly not even that much.
Did I get it right?

And where are you located, if you give your location people locally might be able to help you out. Like I know a couple places in chicagoland that have a great selection of plants and they have swaps by me that one guy can get you almost anything and the plants are huge for really cheap.

For that reason, I would display my location, but I'm kinda paranoid about internet safety...

some macros wont cause a bloom, like potassium is needed you can do without phosphate or nitrogen. ill say you can stay away from excel if your doing valls its like a dangerous dance i tried to use it worked for a while then they got tired of it and almost died off. if you dont want to do root tabs you dont have to but it will help the vals tremendously.
