I just took advantage of the sale at MarineDepotLive.com on the sale they are having on Fiji LR. 45 lbs shipped for $159. I got two boxes. Lots of stuff on the rocks, they came wrapped in wet newspaper, and there were lots of things on the rocks. Some purple areas with coralline, some things that look like grean peas like in this pic:

And what is this? I touched it by accident and it felt fleshy. Bigger and longer than my thumb, and seems completly attached to the rock. Its near the center at the lower right.

Anyway, it seemed like a good deal to me. Just thought I would pass this info along in case anyone needs to purchase some LR.

live rock

THIS IS NOT A FLAME!!!!!!
Next time check out Tampa Bay Saltwater.Their rock is so full of life!!I have gotten pink and blue sponges, hard cup corals, porcelain crabs, red gracillia macro algae, huge clams that are attached to the rock and look just like it .SOOOOOO much stuff it would take a while to list.richard really hooks up the packages, prices are great!!check out the video they have on the home page....seeing is believing.

Those pea things might be tunicates, or maybe valonia (bubble algae).

The rock looks nice. I'm a big fan of TBS, but 45# for $159 shipped is a pretty darn good deal.

Is there a minimum $$ amount you have to spend at Tampa Bay Saltwater ?, I think It's Liveaquaria's you have to spend so much B4 they'll even ship it.

Just wanted to add ,"in case you didn't know", that if that is a sponge it's probably very dead. IMO there is nothing know to human kind that stinks/fouls water as bad as a dead sponge I'd get it out quick. Looks like a chicken liver sponge to me and they die almost instantly upon exposure to air.
just a thought

Not really. The main thing is that you'll be charged a minimum for shipping, so getting a few pounds will cost a lot.

While it's true that sponges tend to do poorly when shipped, Cygnus' sponge looks a lot like one of mine, which is still going strong after a few years.

It seems to have swelled a tiny bit, and the smell from the tank is getting better each day. Actually it never really smelled horribly. At first it smelled like you were walking along the beach and found something dead. Now it just smells like the beach. I take that as a good sign. Also the sponge has not changed color or anything.
