LR from MarineDepotLive.com

That's cool that you got a good shipment from them, Cygnus. Guess it's just luck of the draw, but I wasn't too impressed or happy with my shipment of liverock that I got for a "good deal" online. I ordered from www.oceanproaquatics.com, and mine came shipped in wet newspaper as well. I got mine, 45 pounds, shipped, for even less, however, might as well have ordered from www.hirock.com. Mine didn't have any cool hitchhikers or coralline or anything on it. I ended up buying LR from two LFS in the area; made sure to check them over and cherry-picked pieces heavily encrusted with coralline and loaded with mushrooms, feather-dusters, etc., so they would "seed" my other "liverock".

From what I've been reading, I think next time around I'm going to spend a bit more and get my rock from TBS, as everyone seems to have a great experience with them.

Good luck with your tank!

Hey AS40,

I thought i mentioned OceanPro to you awhile back. Did you order from them? How did the rocks turn out? Did you pickup or have it shipped?

Im curious as you can tell.

Update:

Seeing new growth all over the place. My wife and I are enjoying just noticing the new growth. Getting some new purple spots, some of the macro algea is getting longer. Saw some new unidentified thing in a big hole in the rock. It's like a bulb with a stem and another bulb at the end, maybe 3 inches long. It just appeared out of nowhere. Ammonia hit zero yesterday. Nitrites are still high. I started adding clear ammonia (3 drops per 10 gallons) to keep the ammonia eating bacteria fed. I don't want any of those bacteria to starve, for when I add my cleanup crew. Lots of bubbling going on, like bubbles coming out of the rocks and sometimes from the sand in different spots. Also there are some trails in the sand, like a worm or something has crawled through it.

This is freakin' awesome so far! :D I have been a freshwater guy for twelve years now, and after losing my 7 year old fish, I decided to go reef (slowly of course).

hey

these mushrooms were hikers, and looked boring & bland red in my full spectrum flourescents. Then I got the 50 four. / 50 actinic blue and green lights showed up on the tips of the mushrooms.

really cool

TBS = Tampa Bay Saltwater

They're considered by many to be the premier dealer of atlantic live rock, because of their, mainly, shipping methods and amount of life on the rock - which is helped by the way they ship the rock. their website is http://www.tbsaltwater.com/
