Game #6 Ends......
Do to the current lack of participation, I have decided to close the game and call the Townies the victors. I will try to post some thoughts here about the game overall and maybe answer or clarify some issues.
First I would like to thank everyone for participating and helping to make this enjoyable for all of us. And that means a big thanks to Ogre for bringing this game to the AC forums!
I will try to keep things noted below as generic as I can, and no one should assume any one item is personal and directed at them. Thanks in advance. If I fail to answer/cover a issue you have concerns with, please post here so I can answer and all will benefit.
With input from the previous game players, it became evident that the game might be too strongly structured so the Mafia couldn't win. Listening to the input from many of you, I made some adjustments and ran the ideas thru some of the Mafis Game sites out there.
I eliminated the Mayor/Detective combined rolls. With both of them being able to do investigations and the ability to lynch twice, many folks thought this was too powerful. This was reduced to just a Detective who could do investigations.
The split of 17/7 came about to give the Mafia an edge, since we had some very good players signed up. I was hoping to create lots of posts and see some real deductions going on, which I think was definitely accomplished!
I still wanted some wild cards, just to keep things a bit unstable. Thus the Vig and the Snitch.
Remember:
The Vigilante...a total wild card...he can kill once per game by sending me a PM at the start of the game night. The Vigilante can be an Innocent or a Mafia, and strike against either.
and:
The "Snitch". One of the Mafia is a Snitch. Since their cousin Vinny was ousted by the Mafia last year, they feel some revenge is needed. The Snitch does not reveal his identity to anybody, not even the Don, except by me upon their death. The Snitch will PM me a list of 4 names, their choosing, whenever I ask. At least one member of this list will be a Mafia member.These names will be worked into the night time story line. Innocents do not want to kill the snitch too early, and the Mafia want him gone quickly...maybe, depends on their plans.
The Vig can be either Mafia or Innocent, and strike against either. It was so close to happening this game, I almost expected it to be over a lot sooner. I thought long and hard about making the Vig, Mafia, but thought that would make it to favorably towards the Mafia.
The Snitch was thrown in, just to keep the Mafia on their toes and not take everything for granted. Notice the "The Snitch will PM me a list of 4 names, their choosing, whenever I ask." and "At least one member of this list will be a Mafia member. "
Some folks thought I shouldn't do anything but post a list, but I thought working them into the story line would lend a bit more humor and thought into the game. The folks who originally had worries about it changed their minds before the game began.
Since the game was going extremely one sided by the middle of Day 2, I asked for a Snitch list, 1 Mafia, 3 Innocnets, all of the Snitches choosing. I got: KOTD, Mee-mee, Plant and Mad.
For night three, I asked for another list, but since things seemed in such confusion, I requested 2 Mafia and 2 Innocents, and got: sploke, jensons, bkw and mee. This list also had stipulations that it could all be new names, but no more than one from the old list.
I was undecided on a third list but since the Townies still continued assualting themselves, I was prepared to ask for a third. Since the Snitch was going out of town for the weekend, he sent one in while I was at work. I had decided that the third list should be a combination of the first two.
This third list would be 3 Mafia/1 Innocent, made from the first two lists. I ended up choosing since the Snitch wasn't available.
The clues I gave could very easily be taken in any way, as many of you noted.
I do see a problem with giving the current status of Mafia/Innocent and the Secret Identity issue though.
The two chosen for Secret Identity were plantling and joander, but it never came into play.
Twice after 5 deaths I asked for "dead" votes but didn't get any.
I didn't do any "unexpected posts", since there were enough of them on their own.
With so many folks dropping out, for real personal issues, taking things too seriously, and/or some other issue, I did my best to keep things challenging for all. Sorry if things went askew for any of you.
