Correct me if I am wrong but I remember the last time this was played it didn't last long because a boss was lynched, and I'm pretty sure they were not a vet or power player in any way. I'm going to check this so stay tuned...

There is a difference between "not a vet" and a newbie.

There is no freaking way Ice made a newbie (first time ever playing) a boss. Unless they already had strong ties to the web site.

I can't help but feel like you're trying to say more than you're saying, JL. Could you clarify what you mean by the bolded part?

The only think I can think JL meant was Kash's bf, Wizard. I need to go re-read this whole thread since I need to vote before going to bed. Schedule is hectic tomorrow and I'm not sure if there will be mid day down time in which to log on.

Like a mod or a person that has been a member for a long time, but has never played mafia. It would have to be someone Ice trusted not to screw the game up. If the boss UD's, the game is over.

Gotcha. I guess my thinking went right to Wiz because of the discussion in the sign up thread. I didn't think of a mod or something.

I will explain what I meant, I certianly do not need you to explain what I meant.

I don't think Ice knows the Wiz and would trust him to be a boss, but I could see that if Kash was a boss that she would try to add him to her team. I would lynch Kash way, way before the Wiz.

If I was moding a game that so much depended on two strong roles, I would make sure that I have two strong players.

As you can see my logic is 100% the opposite as mad's. That is why he is my top suspect. I could see Ice making him a boss.

So in this format it is most likely that the bosses are low posters and not be in the spotlight?

So knowing that, a boss would be safer to be in the spotlight? Plus if you are a player that normally plays in the spot light, if you step out of the spotlight, you are suspect.

Also past roles and past game play has NOTHING to do with the current game.

I would be interested in comparing how often higher profile players are lynched and how often lower posters are...it seems that especially earlier in the game the people who post more often get targeted.

It's not that hard to come up with some RL excuse as to why you aren't posting as much. The hardest part, for me at least, would be actually resisting...

I never said Ice necessarily chose a newb, in fact, my statement was meant to imply that I thought it was someone either newer or someone who flew under the radar that was chosen. It was Lchap in #22 but I don't really remember what type of player he was anyways...

My comments were meant to poke holes in Mad's gameplan. It doesn't allow for the mayor to play it safe if they somehow planned on it...

I have every newbie leaning non-boss. I also have the a players who have historically been generally unhelpful (ie, lack of effort/lurking, little original thought, etc.) to the town, even when they've been town-aligned leaning non-boss. My top players meeting this critera (no offense) would be TRS, rich and jb. Anyone want to guess that mad just copies my list?

So here is my adjusted suspect list (in the order from the first page):

JL
Kash
Annie
Razz
RB

That trims it up to 10 pretty quickly.
