I am not sure if the rule was goofy, could be that I do not have an objective view on it. I do not see how it helps the mafia. I am also unsure if it helped in getting more input from players.

It seems to me that first post must vote would be more harmful for the town, you could leave your vote there because it is "safer" than retracting and voting someone you become suspicious of.

If your first post vote gets lynched and turns innocent then "gee, I'm sorry but I had to vote on my first post"

Day 1 votes are generally random anyway but through the course of the day you can sometimes get a "feel" for some scummy behavior.

It's goofy in that people actually forfeited their votes if they didn't vote immediately. It wasn't so much a discussion starter as it was a "Mafia/Mother, May I" hybrid... No real purpose, other than people having to remember to say "Mother, May I" before posting in the new day.

Ended up being more for yuks...."Ha, ha. So-and-so lost their vote," with others unvoting and then swooping in to pick up the extra vote.

I didn't play that game, but I read it, and didn't care for the rule.
 
We've had some games where the vote with first post was mandatory. Whether I like that rule or not depends on which side I'm on. If you assign me a mafia role, I'd be in favor of it. :)

If the sirloin evil is killed, I was thinking that the evil team would lose their hit.

The psychic only gets invest results from the spirits, he/she can't communicate in their thread.
 
I asked about the first post/vote rule because I hate day 1 so much and I want to get things started. We're not going to use it this game, so you don't have to vote on your first post.
